Theta Chi Fraternity will be coordinating a Suicide Awareness Walk this Thursday, Mar. 21 in order to raise awareness regarding suicide and suicide prevention.

The Theta Chi Sacred Purpose Program teaches members and communities about seven major topics; suicide prevention and intervention being one of them, which inspired the brothers to bring this event to campus.

After hearing about a similar event held by Theta Chi’s chapter at the University of Alabama, where more than 600 people participated, the brothers felt this would serve as a good opportunity to bring the community together.

The walk will be held on the first floor of the UCEN and continue through downtown Flint. The brothers of Theta Chi will be guiding the participants through the area.

This walk is silent and will begin at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 9 p.m.. Everyone in the community and on campus is encouraged to come out and support suicide awareness.

“Participating in this walk is not just raising awareness, but showing support to fellow students and the community,” said President Nickxit Bhardwaj. “Hopefully the walk will attract many students to impact and create a difference in someone’s life.”
