In celebration of National Nutrition Month, the UM-Flint Recreation Center is holding a healthy recipe contest for students.

With now being an ideal time to make new recipes and learn to cook during quarantine, the Rec Center is continuing to promote a healthy lifestyle for students while keeping its doors closed.

Last year was the first annual for this contest and it came about because March is National Nutrition Month,” said Jo Ann Ford, rec center marketing and design coordinator. “Students love to win GO BLUE SWAG and also value water/beverage holding containers like Hydro Flasks.”

Students should submit their recipes via Instagram with the hashtag #umflintrec or #umflinthealthwellness. And while a photo of the meal may benefit your chances, it is not necessary for entry.

The Rec Center’s Nutrition Specialist Mary Delgado (and possibly Chris Reagan) will be picking the winners on or before Monday, April 13. The winner will receive a blue Hydro Flask water bottle as well as Rec Center spirit wear.

The deadline for students to submit their recipe is Wednesday, April 1 by 12 p.m.

If you have any questions or concerns about the contest, please contact the Rec Center at (810) 762-0712.
