Genesee County, Michigan – A former courthouse property in Mt. Morris is officially on the market, giving prospective buyers a chance to acquire a piece of county-owned real estate while Genesee County continues reshaping its long-term property portfolio.
The Genesee County Board of Commissioners has opened a sealed bidding process for the former district court property, tying the sale to a broader effort to manage county assets and strengthen financial planning through its Capital Improvement Plan.
Interested buyers have until 2 p.m. EST on Thursday, November 5, 2026, to submit sealed bids. Proposals must be delivered to the Genesee County Purchasing Department at 324 S. Saginaw Street, Suite 9A, in Flint.
The county has made additional material available for anyone considering a bid. Information for bidders, terms and conditions of the sale, and appraisal reports can be reviewed through the Genesee County Purchasing Department’s current bids page.
The property previously served as a district court location in Mt. Morris. With the building no longer being used for that purpose, county officials are moving forward with the process of selling the site through competitive sealed bids.
The Board of Commissioners said the sale represents another step in its ongoing commitment to Genesee County’s Capital Improvement Plan. That plan is intended to support long-term financial stability by addressing county facilities, property and other capital needs in a structured way.
For the county, the sale is therefore more than a single real estate transaction. Moving an unused former court property out of the county’s portfolio fits into a larger effort to manage public assets with future costs and financial needs in mind.
Prospective bidders should review the county’s published requirements and appraisal information before submitting an offer. Bids received after the November 5 deadline will fall outside the announced submission period.
