Consumers Energy customers will soon be able to pay bills at Flint’s Clio Road Service Center

Flint, Michigan – For Flint residents who still prefer to pay utility bills face to face, a familiar local service center is about to take on a new role. Beginning in the second week of October, Consumers Energy customers will be able to make cash bill payments at the city’s Clio Road Service Center.

The move comes ahead of a major change for in-person customers. Consumers Energy plans to permanently close its payment office at 3201 E. Court Street after its final day of operation on November 30, 2026, making the new city partnership an additional nearby option before that location disappears.

Payments will be accepted at the Flint City Services Center at 4813 Clio Road. Residents of Flint as well as people from surrounding municipalities will be allowed to use the location to make Consumers Energy payments.

For now, the service will be limited to cash payments. Customers will make payments through the center’s drive-thru windows.

The Clio Road Service Center is closed Mondays. It operates from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

“Our goal is simple: make it easier for Flint residents to access the services they need,” Flint Mayor Sheldon A. Neeley said.

“When an existing option becomes unavailable, we have an opportunity to find another way to serve our residents. By bringing Consumers Energy bill payments to our Clio Road Service Center, we are making an important service more accessible and keeping it close to the people who rely on it.”

The center was originally established to improve access to city services for residents on Flint’s north side. It already handles water bill payments and other city services and also provides access to public health resources.

“This is what putting residents first looks like — meeting people where they are and making government and essential services more accessible,” Neeley said.

“We appreciate Consumers Energy for working with the City to help ensure Flint residents continue to have a local, in-person option for paying their energy bills.”

Customers who do not need to pay at the Clio Road location will still have other choices. Consumers Energy continues to accept payments through authorized in-person payment locations, online, through its mobile app and by phone.
