Lansing, Michigan – Sterling Heights is adding another piece to its already substantial defense industry footprint, this time through a company focused on one of the fastest-growing security challenges: drones.
Capture Group Inc. plans to invest at least $5 million in a new U.S. manufacturing and engineering operation in the Macomb County city, a project expected to create at least 125 jobs over the next five years.
The company is the U.S. entity of Capture Systems Ltd., which develops technology for defense and homeland security applications. Its products include Counter-UAS systems designed to detect, identify and neutralize unmanned aerial threats.
Capture Systems Ltd. formed Capture Group Inc. in 2026 as part of its move into the U.S. market. The Sterling Heights facility is being developed as a production and operations hub for the company’s advanced defense technologies.
Jobs connected to the project are expected to start at $25 an hour plus benefits. The expansion has been awarded a $936,000 performance-based grant through the Michigan Business Development Program from the Michigan Strategic Fund.
“Michigan is on the move and open for business, competing for and winning big projects in next-generation industries from aviation to defense,” Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said.
“Today’s announcement will create 125 new good-paying jobs and help cement Michigan as the best place for cutting-edge research and development that moves our nation forward.”

Once completed, the facility is expected to house production lines for Counter-UAS platforms, optical surveillance equipment and mobile defense systems. It will also serve as a marketing base and a center for development, integration and testing of counter-drone systems and remote-controlled weapon stations.
Capture Systems Group Chief Operating Officer Avi Braun called the project a major step in the company’s global expansion and said Michigan offered a combination of engineering talent, manufacturing capabilities and a favorable environment for growth.
Michigan was not the company’s only option. Capture Group also considered locations in Florida and Virginia before selecting Sterling Heights.
State and local officials say that decision strengthens Macomb County’s position as an established defense corridor. Sterling Heights Senior Economic Development Advisor Luke Bonner said the company’s technology and defense focus make it a strong fit for the city’s existing industry base.
The investment and employment figures remain performance commitments. Under the state program, grant money will be distributed as agreed milestones are reached, and the terms may be changed or canceled if Capture Group does not meet its commitments.
