Flint, Michigan – The City of Flint announced the recipients of the Community-Based Violence Intervention and Prevention Initiative (CVIPI) funding, therefore significantly advancing community safety. Aimed at lowering violence using community-driven approaches, this project had its grant recipients honored formally at the City Hall Dome last week.
Attended by city officials, community leaders, and proponents of violence prevention, the gathering underlined the intentional application of these resources to promote interventions and preventative actions across Flint. 23 local groups, all dedicated to tackling the fundamental reasons of violence in their areas, received funds ranging from $7,500 to $50,000.
“The CVIPI grant is a game-changer for Flint,” said Mayor Sheldon Neeley. “This funding will allow us to implement evidence-based strategies, strengthen partnerships, and make a lasting impact in reducing violence in our community.”
Key speaker Jesse A. Cole, Jr. M.Ed., Founder and President of Kingdom Confidence Consulting, discussed the value of community empowerment and resilience in combating violence during the ceremony His speech underlined how funds help companies to increase their outreach initiatives and promote healing and empowerment in impacted areas.
Apart from providing a forum for talking about next plans, the grant presentation was a public call to the Flint citizens and stakeholders to get active in the initiatives aimed at preventing violence in the city. The project highlights Flint’s commitment to create a peaceful and vibrant community as well as its safety investment.
