Flint, Michigan – For businesses looking to land work with Flint city government, the first hurdle may simply be understanding how to get through the door. A new free workshop aims to make that process clearer, from what the City looks for in vendors to how companies and independent professionals can position themselves for future opportunities.
The City of Flint will host the two-hour session on Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 10 a.m. to noon in the City Hall Dome. The workshop is open to the public and is designed especially for people and businesses interested in becoming municipal vendors.
Contractors, consultants, suppliers, skilled tradespeople and professional service providers are among those encouraged to attend. Participants will learn more about what is required to be considered when the City needs outside companies or individuals to provide goods, specialized work or professional services.

The workshop comes as Flint seeks to expand its pool of available vendors. A broader vendor list could give the City more options when it needs outside assistance while also creating opportunities for businesses that may not previously have worked with local government.
The session will also focus on making the vendor selection process easier to understand. For someone unfamiliar with municipal procurement, knowing how the City evaluates potential vendors and what steps must be completed can be an important starting point.
City officials are opening the workshop beyond established companies, allowing anyone interested in government contracting to attend and learn how the process works. That includes potential new vendors who may have the skills or services the City needs but have not previously pursued municipal work.
The event will be held inside the City Hall Dome, with parking available behind City Hall off Seventh Street. Light refreshments will also be provided during the workshop.
