Flint soccer fans invited downtown for Bucks and AFC pep rally on May 27

Flint, Michigan – Downtown Flint will turn into a gathering place for local soccer pride on Wednesday, May 27, when fans are invited to welcome the Flint City Bucks and Flint City AFC during a public reception and pep rally at the Genesee County Administration Building.

The event, presented by the Genesee County Commissioners, will run from 4 to 6 p.m. inside the building’s first-floor atrium and Community Room. It is free and open to the public, giving families, longtime supporters and new fans a chance to meet players, enjoy food and refreshments, hear music and take part in the excitement as another soccer season approaches.

The celebration will also feature food trucks, merchandise and player introductions, bringing the energy of match day into the heart of downtown before the teams return fully to the field.

For Genesee County leaders, the gathering is not only about soccer. It is also a chance to bring residents into the county’s new Administration Building and spotlight a sports culture that continues to grow in Flint.

“We’re excited to be able to host this event for an organization that has become a part of the incredible athletic tradition of Genesee County,” said Dale K. Weighill, Chairman of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners.

“It’s also a great opportunity to visit Genesee County’s new Administration Building, right in the heart of downtown Flint.”

The Flint City Bucks have built a reputation as one of the country’s strongest semi-professional soccer clubs. The team has won four USL national championships and recently added another notable moment with a U.S. Open Cup victory over Forward Madison, a professional club from Wisconsin. The Bucks have also seen more than 110 players drafted or signed by Major League Soccer, giving the club a long record of helping talent move toward the highest levels of the sport.

Alongside the Bucks, Flint City AFC has helped expand the area’s soccer identity and give fans another reason to follow the game close to home.

The May 27 rally is meant to bring that full community together. For local supporters, it will be a chance to shake hands with players, celebrate what Flint soccer has already achieved and send both teams into the season with a strong show of hometown support.
