Flint, Michigan – Flint is turning part of June into a doorway for young people looking for work, direction and a stronger start.
The City of Flint is inviting local youth and young adults to the Youth Summer Job Fair on Monday, June 15, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Mays Senior & Community Center, 1002 W. Home Ave. The event is free and open to interested young people across the community.
The goal is simple but important: put young residents in the same room with employers, training programs, workforce groups and community organizations that can help them take the next step. For some, that may mean finding a summer job. For others, it may mean learning how to build job skills, explore career paths or connect with resources that support long-term success.

City officials said attendees will be able to speak directly with employers about available opportunities. They can also learn about job training programs and services designed to help them prepare for the workplace beyond the summer months.
The job fair is also tied to a wider city effort. Flint officials have continued to frame youth employment, mentorship and workforce development as part of a broader strategy to improve community safety and economic mobility. The idea is that when young people have access to positive options, steady support and meaningful work, they are more likely to build confidence and stay connected to productive paths.
“Providing pathways to employment is one of the most effective ways we can support our young people,” said Mayor Sheldon Neeley.
“When youth have access to jobs, skills training, and positive opportunities, they are better equipped to achieve their goals and contribute to a stronger Flint.”
The event comes as cities across the country continue looking for ways to connect young people with practical experience before they enter the full-time workforce. In Flint, the focus is local: helping youth meet people who are hiring, understand what employers are looking for and find programs that can help them grow.
The Youth Summer Job Fair will run for two hours, giving attendees time to ask questions, make contacts and learn what opportunities may be available now.
