Flint, Michigan – Working with Mayor Sheldon Neeley, the City of Flint is collaborating with the Michigan Unemployment Insurance Agency (UIA) to hold a community assistance event in a key effort meant to increase local support for individuals experiencing unemployment. This program specifically intends to assist locals with their unemployment insurance claims. The free session set for October 28, 2024 will take place from noon to 5:00 p.m. at the City of Flint Service Center on 4813 Clio Road.
Helping Flint residents navigate the complexity of unemployment insurance is the main objective of this event. This covers direction on understanding qualifying criteria, filing or resolving claims, and learning more about the available benefits. The UIA staff will be on-site to answer questions and provide one-on-one assistance.
The city is recommending those interested to attending the event to bring several papers so they can get faster service. These are a Social Security card, a birth certificate, a Michigan Driver’s License or State ID card, or a U.S. passport. These documents are essential for verifying identity and expediting the claim process.
Furthermore, the event will highlight not only jobless claims but also provide further government services. Usually providing a range of services from their offices, the Mobile Secretary of State Unit will be available to assist on site. Furthermore, representatives from Veteran’s Services and Michigan Works will also be present to provide support and information relevant to their respective fields.
