Flint City Hall to close on Labor Day with normal hours resuming Tuesday

Flint, Michigan – Flint residents should plan ahead for disruptions in service during the Labor Day holiday. On Monday, September 1, 2025, City Hall will be closed for the holiday. The next day, everything will go back to normal, with offices operating from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Clio Road Community Service Center will also be closed. The center will be closed on Monday, just like City Hall, and will open again on Tuesday, September 2, for regular business hours.

The schedule for picking up trash and recyclables will be different this week. Priority Waste, which picks up trash, compost, and recycling in Flint, said that pickups will be one day later than usual because of the holiday. For instance, Tuesday’s routes will be picked up on Wednesday, and so on. After Labor Day, services will go back to their normal schedule.

These changes are normal for city services during federal holidays. Officials advise people to put their trash cans out on the new day so that they don’t miss collection. The city’s sanitation webpage has all the information you need on garbage, compost, and recycling services.

City leaders said that residents should pay attention to the changes now so that they don’t have to rethink their plans when municipal offices and garbage services change their hours.
