Flint, Michigan – The City of Flint is starting a new program called “Wellness Wednesday” to boost public health. This weekly community health program is designed to bring essential services directly to residents. The program will take place every Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Clio Road Community Service Center, which is at 4805 Clio Road. It will start on June 25, 2025.
This health fair is only one aspect of a bigger effort by municipal leaders to fix gaps in healthcare and provide substantial, easy-to-reach support right in the neighborhoods where people live. The city wants to make health education and preventive care a normal aspect of community life through Wellness Wednesday.
Every week, a certified Nurse Practitioner will be available to provide a range of free services, including as checking blood pressure and BMI, reviewing medications, screening for mental health issues, and meeting with people one-on-one to talk about their general health concerns. Residents will be able to ask questions, get answers, and obtain advice from a competent professional without having to pay for it, make an appointment, or fill out any paperwork ahead of time.
A trained health navigator will also be there every Wednesday to help individuals find other programs and services that can help them. One of the most important things they do is give out free water filters, which many people in Flint still need. The program is designed to meet the specific requirements of the community, whether that means learning how to avoid chronic diseases or getting help with mental health issues in the area.
“We understand that access to healthcare and trusted information is a key part of a healthy community,” said Mayor Sheldon Neeley. “Wellness Wednesday is about meeting people where they are, addressing health disparities, and making sure every resident has the opportunity to take control of their health.”
Anyone who lives in Flint can come to the weekly gatherings, which are meant to be a welcome place for people who need help, whether they have a long-term illness or just wish to stay healthy. You don’t need an appointment, and walk-ins are welcome.
