Flint to kick off holiday season with annual Tree Lighting Event on December 4

Flint, Michigan – The City of Flint is ready to usher in the holiday season with its annual Tree Lighting Event, a cherished tradition that brings the community together in the heart of downtown. The festive celebration will take place on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, outside Flint City Hall, where residents are invited to gather for an evening filled with warmth, reflection, and holiday cheer.

Mayor Sheldon Neeley will be joined by Flint Police Chief Terence Green and Fire Chief Theron Wiggins to preside over the lighting of three beautifully adorned trees. The centerpiece of the display, a towering evergreen draped in multi-colored lights, serves as a vibrant symbol of joy, unity, and community spirit. Alongside it, two smaller trees carry deep meaning: one illuminated in blue to honor fallen police officers and another glowing in red in remembrance of firefighters who made the ultimate sacrifice.

This event is more than just lighting trees. It’s about honoring our local heroes, celebrating our community, and embracing the holiday spirit together as one.

Following the tree lighting, the celebration will move indoors to the City Hall lobby, where attendees can warm up with complimentary hot chocolate and refreshments. The gathering offers a chance for neighbors to connect, share stories, and create lasting memories in the spirit of the season.
