Aspiring musicians and tech enthusiasts invited to Mott Community College’s Music Tech Industry Day for mentorship and insights

Flint, Michigan – With its first-ever Music Tech Industry Day, Mott Community College (MCC) will open doors to a unique experience. Designed to span the Mott Memorial Building from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., the event on March 21 seeks to close the gap between young artists, techies, and seasoned industry professionals.

Under the direction of Rufus Ferguson, Professor of Music and Coordinator of the Music and Music Technology Programs at MCC, the event looks to be a pillar for individuals wishing to work in music technology.

“This inaugural event will feature two special guest speakers and several local music industry professionals,” said Ferguson. “It’s an incredible opportunity for you to connect with experts in the field, and potentially secure mentorships, internships, and job opportunities. Whether you’re looking to expand your network or gain industry insight, this event will be a valuable first step in your music career.”

The day will consist of seminars with two well-known guest musicians who have had major impact on the music scene. Producer Brandon Williams, Grammy-nominated musician, will discuss his path and feedback on the changing scene of music creation. Beside him is Academy Award-winning songwriter Luis Resto, who will talk on the creative process and technological integration in music.

With space limited to 50 attendees, the event emphasizes a small-scale intimate environment where attendees may engage closely with local musicians and guest writers. This exclusivity is meant to provide opportunities for education and deep relationships. Though the event is needed for all MCC Music Technology majors, it is also available to the public and offers a special chance for local residents and other interested people to delve into the music industry.

Prospective participants are advised to RSVP given the restricted capacity. This can be done through a registration link provided by the college. The event not only highlights MCC’s commitment to enhancing educational experiences but also its role in nurturing talent at the intersection of music and technology, preparing students for a future where these fields increasingly converge.
