Flint, Michigan – Through its yearly Love Your City Month, scheduled for May 2025, the City of Flint is welcoming spring with open arms. Focusing on neighborhoods, parks, and other public areas, this month-long program aims to bring the community together in an intentional attempt to clean up and improve the attractiveness of Flint. Aiming to keep the city clean and looking good, the project motivates Flint’s residents and local businesses to actively engage.
Flint has a strong history of community involvement; the Love Your City Month initiative uses this civic energy by providing free cleanup tools to individuals wanting to help. Key partner in the project Keep Genesee County Beautiful will provide necessary cleaning supplies like yard waste bags, garbage bags, and cotton work gloves.
These materials will help volunteers carry out cleanup operations in parks, schoolyards, road medians, and other public areas. Those wishing to get these materials should get in touch with Keep Genesee County Beautiful at least ten days before their intended cleanup operations to guarantee availability.
Furthermore, the effort promotes unity in the community via planned cleanup activities. Promoting a hands-on attitude to neighborhood beautification, block clubs and local organizations are invited to register their cleanup activities. The Office of Blight Elimination is providing more information and assistance for community cleanups to help these local initiatives. Interested organizations can contact for registration and guidelines, hence facilitating the coordination of their activities.

Adding to the community’s engagement opportunities, the city has also scheduled special trash collection weeks during the campaign month. These include:
- Unlimited Large Item Pickup from May 5–9, where residents can dispose of larger waste items, though some restrictions apply such as the exclusion of appliances and hazardous materials.
- Unlimited Bagged Trash Pickup from May 12–16, aimed at removing smaller trash items, with the condition that all trash must be properly bagged and placed curbside.
- Unlimited Bundled Brush Pickup from May 19–23, which will assist in clearing yard and gardening waste, with specifications on the size and bundling of the brush.
Residents intending to take part in these unique pickups should make sure their belongings are curbside by 7 AM on their usual collection day. Scheduled regular compost pickup will help to enable a thorough citywide cleaning.
