Flint, Michigan – Officially launching its request for applications for the year 2025, the Flint ReCAST Mini-Grant Program seeks creative ideas aiming at empowering the young people of the city. Emphasizing trauma-informed practices to build resilience and equity, this project seeks out local groups dedicated to improving Flint’s younger population.
Local nonprofits, government agencies, academic institutions, and community-based organizations having a fiscal sponsor are encouraged to apply for grant levels ranging from $5,000 to $25,000 starting Tuesday, February 18, 2025. The application window will stay open Friday, March 21, 2025 until 5:00 PM.
The money, which will be accessible from April 1, 2025, through September 30, 2025, has to be focused on initiatives consistent with one of Flint ReCAST’s two main objectives. The first goal focuses on youth engagement and positive development, which includes initiatives like mental health promotion, career development, and peer support. Encouragement of ideas for resiliency training, mental health literacy, and self-care awareness targets trauma-informed and behavioral health services in the second goal.
Constant efforts by the Flint community will enable the young people to overcome obstacles and thrive. These funds seek to provide organizations the tools they need to carry out meaningful initiatives capable of making a real difference.

The Flint ReCAST Information Session set for Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM will allow interested parties to learn further about the grant and its criteria. Registration for the event is currently open, providing a vital opportunity for potential applicants to gather more information directly from the ReCAST team and clarify any questions regarding the application process.
The ReCAST Mini-Grant Program will not pay for religious activities, lobbying campaigns, capital projects, meals, snacks, beverages, loans, or debt reduction.
