Flint Township, Michigan – As the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) announces lane closures on southbound Interstate 75, Flint Township drivers should get ready for possible interruptions. This necessary inconvenience is part of a $500,000 initiative to enhance roadway safety by repairing barrier walls and drainage structures.
Beginning October 14, MDOT will block one lane on southbound I-75 between Court Street and Miller Road. This first part of the project should run until the end of October. After the first section is finished, construction workers will concentrate further south from Miller Road to the U.S. 23 split; work is expected to last until mid-November.
At least two lanes on the southbound side will remain open to traffic for the building phase. This strategic planning seeks to minimize disturbance during peak travel periods so that, in spite of continuous activity, commuters may still move the area with somewhat ease.
Drivers are advised to make ahead plans for more travel time or, where at all feasible, choose different paths. As MDOT strives to enhance the infrastructure and safety of Michigan’s roadways, the public’s patience and cooperation are highly appreciated.
