Two companies invest $7.8 million to grow operations in Genesee County, to provide 150 new jobs

Genesee County, Michigan – Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has revealed the establishment of 150 new jobs resulting from two major corporate investment initiatives in Burton, a in what appears to be a significant development for Genesee County. With a total capital investment approaching $7.8 million, the action represents a notable boost for the local economy. Leading this economic boom are Custom Air Handling Solutions and Fluid Cooling Systems, who are growing their operations to satisfy rising market needs.

“Today, I’m excited to announce two Burton, Michigan companies are expanding their operations in our state, creating 150 good-paying jobs in Genesee County,” said Governor Whitmer. “I remain committed to making sure that anyone can make it in Michigan. That’s why I’ll work with anyone to help companies invest and grow right here in Michigan. Together, let’s keep leading the future of manufacturing by bringing jobs and supply chains home.”

The program is included in a larger campaign to diversify the economic foundation of the state, which has experienced notable expansion in the building services industry during the last ten years. Lightcast, a labor market analytics company, claims Genesee County’s employment in this field has skyrocketed by 73%, well above national averages.

Custom Air Handling Solutions, a company specializing in the design and manufacturing of custom-engineered air handling units, is set to purchase a 50,000-square-foot facility in Burton. Driven by rising consumer demand, this growth is projected to produce $5.275 million in capital expenditure and 68 new jobs starting at $25 per hour, much above the regional median pay.

Jason Kinney, General Manager of Custom Air Handling Solutions, shared his optimism about the company’s future in the region.

“This decision is a testament to the strength of our region’s workforce and the resources we offer to help businesses thrive. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the company as they grow, create new job opportunities, and contribute to the economic vitality of our region,” he said.

A $410,000 grant from the Michigan Business Development Program, which seeks to strengthen the state’s economic development by drawing high-value company ventures, helps to support the expansion.

Fluid Cooling Systems, on the other hand, intends to renovate its current building with a $2.5 million investment that will bring in new equipment, overhead cranes, and welding tools. This improvement is projected to generate 82 new positions with a thorough benefits package and a fair beginning pay of $22 per hour. Known for its specialist industrial and HVAC equipment, the company credits its decision to grow in Michigan to the educated local labor and close community ties.

Local authorities have enthusiastically welcomed the announcement as a turning point in Genesee County’s continuous economic growth. State Senator John Cherry and State Representative David Martin lauded the investments as essential for the local job market and community renewal initiatives.
