Flint, Michigan – Working with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) will expand its mobile pantry services in Flint during September in a continuing effort to assist the community. This program seeks to give residents basic nutrition, therefore augmenting the ongoing partnership that has been active since February 2016.
The mobile pantries will provide a range of fresh, vitamin-rich vegetables throughout September to guarantee households have access to good nutritional choices. There will be potatoes, summer squash, carrots, cabbage, and grapes among the options available. This initiative is a part of a larger dedication to improve public health and food security in a community that has lately experienced major difficulties.
The distribution will follow a consistent weekly schedule at three primary locations:
- Bethel United Methodist Church, 1309 N. Ballenger Hwy: Food will be available on Mondays (September 9, 16, 23, and 30) at 10 a.m.
- Asbury United Methodist Church, 1653 Davison Road: Distributions are scheduled for Tuesdays (September 3, 10, 17, and 24) at 10 a.m.
- Greater Holy Temple, 6702 N. Dort Hwy: Residents can pick up food on Thursdays (September 5, 12, 19, and 26) at 10 a.m.
Flint residents will also have access to free, wholesome food at the three Flint Help Center sites at different operational times. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., each center offers help on designated days of the week in line with the distribution days so expedites community access.
